Rack 40/31 Storage Basin and Pump Station Project Akron, Ohio City of Akron The Rack 40/31 Storage Basin and Pump Station Project is the first major project in the city of Akron’s $367 Million CSO Program. DLZ served as the city’s Program Manager and Lead Consultant during the development of the CSO Long-Term Control Plan and the major Wastewater Facility Plan Update Study. The city of Akron was required by Ohio EPA to update their 1980 Facilities Plan and develop a long-term control plan for their combined sewer system. The Facilities Plan/Long-Term Control Plan addressed upgrading and expansion of the Water Pollution Control Station (WPCS) and controls for the combined sewer overflows. Control strategies evaluated for the combined sewer system included storage tunnels, combined sewer separation, storage basins, and treatment basins. Along with the Program Management and Lead Consultant responsibilities, DLZ provided drilling, laboratory testing, and geotechnical engineering services for the project. |
